from patan, we headed to thamel, located in the middle of kathmandu. you can find hundreds of shops selling all sorts of touristy stuff, trekking gear and restaurants. you can even find genuine khukuris or gurkha knives -- the ones issued to the nepali army and the gurkha army/police regiments in the UK, singapore and brunei -- the real deal called 'service number 1'.
after spending rupees and hours there, we headed to an impressive nepali food restaurant that features cultural dances and every one of us got a tika on our forehead from the hostess.
the next day, we went to thamel again for some more shopping,
